Indy Kidded!

This week has definitely been a rough one, that's why I haven't got to posting, sorry about that ;) Indy is one of our 5 Lamancha's, and she kidded 6 days ago to three beautiful kids, one buck and two does. Well, here's how the story goes. . . on Monday her contractions started up so we put her in the stall and on Tuesday we checked her almst every hour around the clock. . . very tiring. On Wednesday she had contractions and fairly hard pushing, which was new, and her back was really humped. So by that point we were going down to the barn every 15 to 20 minutes. Like the second or third time, we wanted to stay down there because she was getting up and down, breathing really hard and was noticeably uncomfortable. After two or three hours of hard labor, she just laid down pushed once and the bubble was already coming out, YAY! The bubble was out and we could see the nose and only one foot. When the bubble popped we could see better and the kids left hoof was back but it came out pretty easy. This one was the buck. Shortly after that, another one was coming and that kid just slipped right out. This one was a doe. Then, when the third one was coming, I noticed something looked strange. . . when I looked closer the kid was coming out back feet first but that didn't seem like a problem, she just came right out. This one was the other doe.
We miked her and took the kids down to the house to be bottle fed. Meanwhile, back at the barn, her placenta was coming out really fast for a little bit but then it stopped for some reason. We thought that was kind of strange. My sister stuck her hand up in her and felt feet and legs, so all of our hopes were up that we might have a forth kid. Well it wasn't so good, the baby wasn't coming out. After a hour or more, my sister finally had to pull the kid out. Unfortunately it was DOA. . . very sad:( The baby was mummified but it was almost all of the way formed except that it was really small, poor thing :( The rest of her afterbirth finally came out after about 7 hours and she had a little hanging out on Thursday. Then, Thursday night we went to check on her and noticed that every time she would strain, cough ect., blood would squirt out. She was loosing about 1/2 to 1 cup at a time. To make a long story short, we finally stopped it. With out the help of our close friends (that have been doing goats for a long time) posting things up on the goat boards and telling us drench recipes to give her for energy, (and also giving her a cayenne pepper douche. . . ouch!) she might have died, so thanks for all of the help guys ;) Praise the Lord for keeping her alive!

This was what she looked like for 3 or4 hours!
Poor thing:(

so CUTE!

Praise God for the experience and the three lives that He brought into the world!
